Welcome to Kasarabada.org !

This week we have 7th chapter of Sundarakanda in Ramayanam ; and 7th chapter of Uddhava Gita in Bhagavatam.

Chapter 7 of Sunadarakanda is one chapter which is absolutely lyrical with rhyming stanzas. If you like reading in a sing song fashion this is a must. For a parayana specialist this chapter goes off in a jiffy !! To give a feel for what we mean, we are listing some of the rhyming words !!

Pandurani, Pushkarani,Kesarani, Vanani

Megharupam,charurupam,balanurupam, pratiruparupam

Dhatuchitram,Chandrachitram,meghachitram,ratnachitram

It is as though Valmiki forgot about the story and went into a lyrical mood as he imagined the Pushpaka Vimana !! Actually this mood continues into the Sundarakanda 8th Chapter also.

As part of chapter 7 in Uddhava Gita , Krishna explains the association of Saints as the surest path towards liberation. He even list the examples of all those who benefited by such association. And asks Uddhava to leave everything and simply " follow me " !! . At this point Uddhava says that all his doubts still persist. This dilemma is elaborated as "Uddhava's Dilemma". The roots of the dilemma can be traced through the uddhava- Krishna dialog. The sequence of Uddhava- Krishna dialog starts with Krishna telling about those taking refuge in Him follow a Karma without attachment . Then he details the Path of Knowledge and Bhakti . Krishna almost declares the path of Bhakti as the surest path ! Then he elaborates on the importance of association with Saints ( or devotees). And asks Uddhava leave everything and simply "follow Me ". At this point having heard so many options Uddhava is indeed lost, specifically not being sure of "the" path to be followed. And Uddhava clearly states without hesitation that he is confused .

The dialog of Krishna and Uddhava provide a model for the leader and the led .This is presented in the One more thing

We are also reproducing "Vakbhushanam - Bhushanam" on the home page. The elaboration is illuminating . A recent discussion reminded me of this , hence it came back on to our home page.

Yes one more thing !! The Ramayana page has settled down into a format. It has a shortened version of the Sunadarakanda chapter in Sanskrit/Telugu slokas with English /Telugu translation under separate columns. Sundarakanda is about parayana. So adding the slokas that make up the story is part of our "Sankshipta Sundarakanda" parayana !!
