(Valli 3)

(The third valli starts with the basic concept of two entities . There is this basic concept of two entities Paramatma and Jivaatma . Jivaatma being the enjoyer of fruits of karma and is known to be part of the. The other entity is Paramaatma who is the onlooker. As long as Jivaatma identifies itself with the body and the related sense actions he will continue to be in the karma cycle of Birth and death . It means that Jivaatma sees itself different from Paramaatma . But when such identification occurs that is the final culmination of Moksha .

There are also the concept of two entities of Brahman. Brahman in manifested form ( with all limbs and names Siva or Vishnu) who is the object of Sacrifices.and Brahman in the Un-manifested form that is without any form or shape in its abstract reality which is the real truth.

As far as goals are concerned in Kathopanishad there are two types of goals talked about . One is this intermediate level Goal of attaining the Heaven through the path of Karma . Nachiketa asked for and got the details of the Fire sacrifice . This was made possible by Yama's teaching about the fire sacrifice which was then named after Nachiketa. Other goal which is the real goal is achieving liberation through the path of knowledge which is what Nachiketa is trying to achieve. Thus Nachiketa is involved in both paths).

Yama's teaching in Valli 3 proper starts with an invocation and then the analogy of body physical with body chariot.

Greetings for Ugadi

- Ugadi is the new year in parts of India specifically AP , Karnataka and Maharashtra!!

With this Ugadi we are starting a page in Telugu titled - "Subbalakshmigari Kalam loninchi" . There is also a technology change. We are adding language support so that Indian language text van easily be accepted . Readers may see a bit of not well formatted texts on the Telugu pages. Hopefully this will be resolved.

The regular features continue !!

This week we are covering 40th Chapter of Sundarakanda . We are continuing the format of separate pages for Chapter 40 - Slokas in Telugu and and Chapter 40- slokas in Sanskrit with English Translation.

The Kathopanishad in Simple words continues with Part2, as continuation of earlier Part 1 - this goes as part of our Athato Brahma Jignyasa. This week Part 2 completes the Kathopanishad first Adhyaya with Valli3. The Valli 1 and 2 were part of Part 1 . This time the Valli 3 threads through a few concepts of duality Jivaatma and Paramatma, Brahman the Un-manifested and the manifested , and the two goals namely one of reaching heaven and the other attaining Moksha. Again we cover all important lines in Sanskrit . While threading through these sanskrit lines the teachings of Kathopanishad come through. This comes in four parts. The first two parts cover Chapter 1 with Valli 1, Valli 2 and 3. The Part 2 covers the Valli 3 of Chapter 1. We called this "Kathopanishad in Simple words". For an interested beginner this should make it easy . No this is not "Kathopanishad for Dummies" !! . The Athato page also carries links to interesting notes on Kathopanishad !! . Now we have quite a bit of material on Kathopanishad; and it is not complete!!

One more thing carries an updated article " Peace does not fall form the sky !!

Athato completes the Kathopanishad 2nd Adhyaya Part 3 or valli 6 We had started the Kathopanishad because it is exciting. It is a dialog on death. Also it is Yama himself teaching !! . So far we have covered Nachiketa's boon in Valli 1, Yama's teaching on good and pleasant as well as the word “om” in Valli 2, Knowledge of Atman in Valli2 (Sloka 21-25) and Valli 3 (Sloka 1-9). Valli 4 went through again nature of Self leading to perception and attainment of Unity. Valli 5 covered more of the nature of inner soul. Then we also added some more notes " good vs pleasant " , "Blind leading Blind" from Kathopanishad

What is on the kasarabada.org?

For the new visitors we thought of adding a few lines on navigation , so that they may know what is available on Kasarabada.org !

We now have 89 chapters of Dasama Skandha of Bhagavatam. All these chapters (stories on Krishna) are listed by name and are available on a link on the Bhagavatam page.

We have now 40 chapters of Sundarakanda and also complete bouquet of articles on Ramayana. These articles include "Role models from Ramayana" namely Srirama , Sita , Hanuman , Jataayu , Sabari , Bharata , Lakshmana. Apart from these there were some special articles namely The Message of Ramayana , Going to the Forests and about Hanuman in "In the thick of the Battle " . Along the same lines are the earlier articles in praise of Hunuman 1 , Hanuman 2 and Valmiki Sundarakanda . Added to this bouquet is the Sundarakanda as a Telugu poem by Pandit Vijayraghavrao. We have also added some downloads specifically for the Sankshipta Sundarakanda ( with Sanskrit slokas) reproduced in different language scripts namely Sanskrit , Telugu , Kannada and Malayalam . There is also a Telugu Sundarakanda Katha for those interested in reading the same as a prose story !!,.

One More Thing

Peace does not drop form the sky !!

- one has to work for it !!

This is recapping an earlier version

“ Peace does not drop from the sky” says Dalai Lama.

In a chat with journalists during his recent trip to Canada Dalai Lama said in a response ,“ Peace does not drop from the sky!” Then he lets go his trademark giggly laugh , making that statement sound simple, down to earth and a matter of fact.

For a cynical world grown apathetic to hearing solemn or profound statements delivered even more solemnly, Dalai Lama is a godsend. He would make profound statements sound so utterly down to earth or simple. Stripped off the veneer of profoundness they are more palatable.

Of course “Peace does not drop down from the sky”!.

Yes, one needs to work for it .

In normal business processes or technical world it is true that “ solution does not drop down from sky”. One is forced look for solutions. And the innovative ones “find solutions”. That of course is normal . An approach that is so normal in business and technical world seems sounds so unreal in the conflict ridden day to day life .

Some times we are hit by an event that throws us off our comfortable perch, we get stunned into an immovable posture without realizing that “ solution does not drop down from the sky “.

We may be so stunned into inaction, that we may not even realize the consequences of our inaction. An inaction may result in “peace passing us by !”.

While this kind of thing happens , few people recognize the event of " peace passing us by ". A Wise man would be the one who recognizes the past and moves on with the knowledge that he is ready for peace if such a thing ever happens.

Then of course nothing falls from the sky .

Same thing is true when you think you got yourself into a corner. You have to work yourself out of it .

Basics are the best bet in all such cases. Do what is required , then see how you can better it . Not worry about the result whether it is noticed or not .!!
