Sundarakanda completed !!

This week's presentation of Chapter 68 of Sundarakanda signals the completion of the Sundarakanda . It is in a way a milestone for the kasarabada.org. We also have the traditional Rama Pattabhisheka too in Telugu and Kannada for your reading pleasure!

We started on this 68 week celebration of one chapter of Sundarakanda every week, way back in in July 2012 on Guru purnima day ! For us this is more like a Sundarakanda Yagnyam - सुंदरकांड यज्ञ / సుందరకాండ యజ్ఞం / - or put in another way a celebration of Sundarakanda ! The 68 Chapters have now been completed with the October 18th Issue of kasarabada.org ! With this our Sundarakanda Yagnyam too is completed.

While presenting Sundarakanda chapter wise, we also had a few articles separately presented under Ramayana pages or under One more thing pages !

We thought of consolidating all articles related to Sundarakanda on one page for ease of access for the readers. All Sundarakanda related articles will now appear on one page Sundarakanda

Sundarakanda page will also have the listing all other related articles which appeared over the last three years on the pages of kasarabada.org .

Sundarakanda is a time less story read a million times in a million houses and will continue to be read by millions as indeed we ourselves do !!

Sundarakanda is a story of single minded pursuit ! It is a story which converts a mood of despondency to a mood of optimism and hope ! The mood at the end of Kishkindha kanda in Ramayana was of despondency of Vanaras as well as Rama too. By the end of Sundarakanda there is hope ! It is a story with many highs and lows in the moods of the chief protagonist Hanuman. But he , the Hanuman, never wavers from his objective ! That is probably the most important lesson for all !

Last week writing about Saundaryalahari , we referred to a book on Saundaryalahari published by Theosophical Publishing House, Adayar , Madras ( 1937) authored by Pandit Subramanya Sastri and Srinivasa iyyengar. This book has an interesting Appendix listing for each mantra the method of Japa ( number of times the mantra is to recited ), the chakra associated, the expected benefit , and the number of days for the Japa etc !

To guard against one being carried away by the tantra lore and apply the same for crude materialistic purposes, there is one illuminating line which is as follows. ' The very essence of of Sri-Vidya consists in its being availed by its votaries to serve lofty and altruistic purposes' !!!

A copy of this book is available on the web .

The last week's one more thing !! was a sequel to the earlier story - 'Vakbhushanam bhushanam'. It is about cultured speech!

Recently there was a query on the archives of kasarabada.org ! The structure is simple. Each of the main pages namely (i) Valmiki Ramayanam (ii) Bhagavatam (iii) Athato brahma jignyasa ( iv) one more thing! carry the links for archives in their domain directly on their pages !!. The archives for the home page are provided with a link on the main page

Happy reading !!

What is on the kasarabada.org?

For the new visitors we thought of adding a few lines on navigation , so that they may know what is available on Kasarabada.org !

We have 89 chapters of Dasama Skandha of Bhagavatam. All these chapters (stories on Krishna) are listed by name and are available on a link on the Bhagavatam page.

We have complete 68 chapters of Sundarakanda and also complete bouquet of articles on Ramayana. These articles include "Role models from Ramayana" namely Srirama , Sita , Hanuman , Jataayu , Sabari , Bharata , Lakshmana. Apart from these there were some special articles namely The Message of Ramayana , Going to the Forests and about Hanuman in "In the thick of the Battle " . Along the same lines are the earlier articles in praise of Hunuman 1 , Hanuman 2 and Valmiki Sundarakanda . Added to this bouquet is the Sundarakanda as a Telugu poem by Pandit Vijayraghavrao. We have also added some downloads specifically for the Sankshipta Sundarakanda ( with Sanskrit slokas) reproduced in different language scripts namely Sanskrit , Telugu , Kannada and Malayalam . There is also a Telugu Sundarakanda Katha for those interested in reading the same as a prose story !!,.

One more thing is a page where we get articles which could be on anything , informative and educative handled with a light heart and a touch of contemporary realities. The page lists all the earlier stories on its page

The last column is Athato Brahma Jignyasaa . This page is focused on Indian Philosophy /Darsanas. This has been started a few months ago and all its earlier issues are listed on its page

In effect to have a look at what is available from the earlier issues you only need to visit the four pages of Ramayanam , Bhagavatam , one more thing. and Athato Brahma Jignyasaa. Each page of these banner pages carry the list of all earlier articles .
