સુંદરકાંડ.
અથ એકપંચાશસ્સર્ગઃ||

તં સમીક્ષ્ય મહાસત્ત્વં સત્ત્વવાન્ હરિસત્તમઃ|
વાક્ય મર્થવદવ્યગ્રઃ તં ઉવાચ દશાનનમ્||1||

સ|| સત્ત્વવાન્ હરિસત્તમઃ મહાસત્ત્વં તં દશાનનમ્ અવ્યગ્રઃ અર્થવત્ વાક્યં તં ઉવાચ||

Courageous Hanuman looking at the very powerful ten-headed one spoke to him slowly and with meaningful words.

અહં સુગ્રીવસન્દેશાત્ ઇહ પ્રાપ્તઃ તવાલયમ્|
રાક્ષસેંદ્ર હરીશસ્ત્વાં ભ્રાતા કુશલમબ્રવીત્||2||
ભ્રાતુઃ શૃણુ સમાદેશં સુગ્રીવસ્ય મહાત્મનઃ|
ધર્માર્થોપહિતં વાક્ય મિહચામુત્ર ચ ક્ષમમ્||3||

સ|| રાક્ષસેંદ્ર અહં સુગ્રીવ સંદેશાત્ ઇહ તવ આલયં પ્રાપ્તઃ| હરીશઃ ભ્રાતા ત્વાં કુશલં અબ્રવીત્||ભ્રાતુઃ મહાત્મનઃ સુગ્રીવસ્ય સમાદેશં ઇહ ચ અમુત્ર ચ દર્માર્થ ઉપહિત વાક્યં ક્ષમમ્ શૃણુ |

' I have come here to your palace with a message from Sugriva. The King of Vanaras who is like a brother asks about your welfare. You may hear the message of the great self, your brother which is pertinent to this world and the other world too , and is consistent with righteousness and propriety, and is beneficial too.

રાજા દશરથો નામ રથકુજ્ઞરવાજિમામ્|
પિતેવ બંધુર્લોકસ્ય સુરેશ્વર સમદ્યુતિઃ||4||
જ્યેષ્ઠઃ તસ્ય મહાબાહુઃ પુત્રઃ પ્રિયકરઃ પ્રભુઃ|
પિતુર્નિર્દેશાન્નિષ્ક્રાંતઃ પ્રવિષ્ઠો દંડકાવનમ્||5||
લક્ષ્મણેન સહભ્રાત્રા સીતાયા ચાપિ ભાર્યયા|
રામો નામ મહાતેજા ધર્મ્યં પન્થાનમાશ્રિતઃ||6||

સ|| રથકુંજિરવાજિમાન્ બંધુઃ લોકસ્ય પિતેવ સુરેશ્વરદ્યુતિઃ દશરથઃ નામ રાજા||તસ્ય જ્યેષ્ઠ પુત્રઃ પ્રિયકરઃ પ્રભુઃ રામઃ નામ મહાતેજા ધર્મ્યં પમ્થાનમાશ્રિતઃ પિતુઃ નિર્દેશાત્ નિષ્ક્રાંતઃ | લક્ષ્મનેન સહભ્રાતા ભાર્યયા સીતા ચ અપિ પ્રવિષ્ઠઃ દંડકાવનમ્ ||

The king named Dasaratha who is richly endowed with chariots, horses and elephants, is a friend of this world, equal to Indra in splendor. His very dear eldest son, the lord by the name Rama is highly effulgent one. He is righteous, followed a path on the orders of his father and went in exile. He entered Danadaka forest with his brother Lakshmana and his wife Sita too.

તસ્ય ભાર્યા વને નષ્ટા સીતા પતિમનુવ્રતા|
વૈદેહસ્ય સુતા રાજ્ઞો જનકસ્ય મહાત્મનઃ||7||
સમાર્ગમાણસ્તાં દેવીં રાજપુત્ત્રઃ સહાનુજઃ|
ઋષ્યમૂકમનુપ્રાપ્તઃ સુગ્રીવેણ સમાગતઃ||8||
તસ્ય તેન પ્રતિજ્ઞાતં સીતાયાં પરિમાર્ગણમ્|
સુગ્રીવસ્યાપિ રામેણ હરિરાજ્યં નિવેદિતમ્||9||

સ|| સીતા મહાત્મનઃ રાજ્ઞો વૈદેહસ્ય જનકસ્ય સુતા સીતા પતિવ્રતા તસ્ય ભાર્યા વને નષ્ટા ||તાં દેવીં માર્ગમાણઃ સઃ રાજપુત્રઃ અનુજઃ સહ ઋષ્યમૂકં અનુપ્રાપ્તઃ સુગ્રીવેણ સમાગતઃ||તેન તસ્ય સીતાયાં પરિમાર્ગણં પ્રતિજ્ઞાતં| રામેણ સુગ્રીવસ્યા અપિ હરિરાજ્યં નિવેદિતું ( પ્રતિજ્ઞાતં)||

His wife Sita, a pious one, the daughter of the great self, King of Videha , Janaka, is lost in the forest. While searching for her, the prince along with his brother reached Rishyamuka and met with Sugriva, Searching for Sita has been promised by him (Sugriva). Securing the kingdom of Vanaras was promised by Rama.

તતઃ તેન મૃથે હત્વા રાજપુત્ત્રેણ વાલિનમ્|
સુગ્રીવઃ સ્થાપિતો રાજ્યે હર્યૃક્ષાણાં ગણેશ્વરઃ||10||
ત્વયા વિજ્ઞાતપૂર્વશ્ચવાલી વાનરપુંગવઃ |
રામેણ નિહત સજ્ઞ્ખ્યેશરેણૈકેન વાનરઃ||11||
સ સીતા માર્ગમાણે વ્યગ્રઃ સુગ્રીવસત્યસંગરઃ|
હરીન્ સંપ્રેષયામાસ દિશઃ સર્વા હરીશ્વરઃ||12||

સ|| તતઃ તેન રાજપુત્રેણ વાલિનં મૃથે હત્વા સુગ્રીવઃ હર્યૃ ક્ષાણાં રાજ્યે ગણેશ્વરઃ સ્થાપિતઃ||વાલી વાનરપુંગવઃ ત્વયા વિજ્ઞાતપૂર્વઃ ચ | વાનરઃ રામેણ સંખ્યે એકેન શરેન નિહતઃ||સુગ્રીવઃ સત્ય સંગરઃ હરીશ્વરઃ સ સીતા માર્ગમાણે વ્યગ્રઃ દિશઃ સર્વાન્ હરીન્ સંપ્રેષયામાસ ||

Then the prince killing Vali in a battle , made Sugriva as the leader of the the kingdom of Vanaras. Vali, the best of Vanaras is known to you earlier. He was killed with one arrow by Rama in the war. Sugriva, the king of Vanaras who battles for truth, anxious for searching for Sita sent Vanaras in all directions.

તાં હરીણાં સહસ્રાણિ શતાનિ નિયુતાનિ ચ|
દિક્ષુ સર્વાસુ માર્ગન્તે હ્યથશ્ચોપરિચામ્બરે||13||
વૈનતેયસમાઃ કેચિત્કેચિત્ તત્રાનિલોપમાઃ|
અસંગતયઃ શીઘ્રા હરિવીરા મહાબલાઃ||14||

સ|| હરીણાં સહસ્રાણિ શતાનિ નિયુતાનિ ચ તામ્ સર્વાસુ દિક્ષુ અથશ્ચ ઉપરિ અંબરે ચ માર્ગંતે||હરિવીરાઃ મહાબલાઃ અસંગતયઃ શીઘ્રાઃ કેચિત્ વૈનતેયસમાઃ કેચિત્ અનિલોપમાઃ|

Thousands of Vanaras are deployed for searching for her in all directions, in the skies and in the underworld too. Vanaras, swift footed powerful , some like Garuda, some like like wind god, went without touching the ground.

અહં તુ હનુમાન્નામ મારુતસ્ય ઔરસસ્સુતઃ|
સીતાયાસ્તુ કૃતે તૂર્ણં શતયોજનમાયતમ્||15||
સમુદ્રં લંઘયિત્વૈવ તાં દિદ્રુક્ષુરિહાગતઃ|
ભ્રમતા ચ મયા દૃષ્ટા ગૃહે તે જનકાત્મજા||16||
તદ્ભવાન્ દૃષ્ટધર્માર્થઃ તપઃ કૃત પરિગ્રહઃ|
પરદારાન્ મહાપ્રાજ્ઞ નોપરોદ્ધું ત્વમર્હસિ||17||

સ|| અહં હનુમાન્ નામ મારુતસ્ય ઔરસ સુતઃ | સીતાયાસ્તુ કૃતે તૂર્ણમ્ શતયોજનં આયતં સમુદ્રં લંઘયિત્વૈવ દિદૃક્ષુ રિહાગતઃ ||ભ્રમતા મયા તે ગૃહે જનકાત્મજા દૃષ્ટા| ભવાન્ દૃષ્ટધર્માર્થઃ |તપઃ કૃતપરિગ્રહઃ | તત્ મહાપ્રાજ્ઞ ત્વં પરદારાન્ ઉપરોદ્ધં ન અર્હસિ||

I am called Hanuman , Maruti's own son. Looking for Sita I quickly jumped across the hundred Yojana wide ocean. While moving around I have seen the daughter of Janaka in your palace. You are knower of the truth of righteousness, carried great austerities. Such a very wise person , abducting another's wife is not appropriate for you.

ન હિ ધર્મ વિરુદ્ધેષુ બહ્વાપાયેષુ કર્મસુ|
મૂલઘાતિષુ સજ્જન્તે બુદ્ધિમન્તો ભવદ્વિથાઃ||18||
કશ્ચ લક્ષ્મણમુક્તાનાં રામકોપાનુવર્તિનામ્|
શરણામગ્રતઃ સ્થાતું શક્તો દેવાસુરેષ્વપિ||19||
ન ચાપિ ત્રિષુ લોકેષુ રાજન્ વિદ્યેત કશ્ચન|
રાઘવસ્ય વ્યળીકં યઃ કૃત્વા સુખમવાપ્નુયાત્||20||

સ|| ભવદ્ભિઃ બુદ્ધિમાનઃ ધર્મવિરુદ્ધેષુ બહ્વાપયેષુ મૂલધાતિષુ કર્મસુ ન સજ્જંતે હિ ||લક્ષ્મણમુક્તાનાં રામકોપાનુવર્તિનામ્ શરાણાં અગ્રતઃ સ્થાતું દેવાસુરેષ્વપિ કઃ શક્તઃ||રાજન્ રાઘવસ્ય વ્યલીકં કૃત્વા સુખં અવાપ્નુયાત્ ત્રિષુ લોકેષુ કશ્ચન ન વિદ્યેત્ ||

Respectable people, wise ones , do not indulge in acts which are unrighteous, which strike at the very root of existence. Even Devas or Indra cannot stop the arrows let loose by Lakshmana or an angered Rama. Oh King ! After displeasing Rama there is none in the three worlds who can experience happiness.

તત્ત્રિકાલહિતં વાક્યં ધર્મ્યમર્થાનુબન્દિ ચ|
મન્યસ્વ નરદેવાય જાનકી પ્રતિદીયતામ્||21||
દૃષ્ઠા હીયં મયા દેવી લબ્દં ય દિહ દુર્લભમ્|
ઉત્તરં કર્મ યત્ શેષં નિમિત્તં તત્ર રાઘવઃ||22||

સ|| તત્ ત્રિકાલહિતં ધર્મ્યં અર્થાનુબંધિ ચ વાક્યં મન્યસ્વ| નરદેવાય જાનકી પ્રતિદીયતામ્||મયા ઇયમ્ દેવી દૃષ્ટાહિ યત્ દુર્લભં ઇહ લબ્ધં | ઉત્તરં યત્ કર્મ શેષં તત્ર રાઘવઃ નિમિત્તં||

'Think of these words good for all three times, which are righteous, which provide you with material wealth. Oh King ! Janaki may be returned to the king of men. I have seen this lady which is very difficult. The course of further action will be planned by Rama'.

લક્ષિતેયં મયા સીતા તથા શોકપરાયણા|
ગૃહ્યાયાં નાભિજાનાસિ પજ્ઞ્ચાસ્યામિવ પન્નગીં||23||
નેયં જરયિતું શક્યા સાસુરૈરમરૈરપિ|
વિષસંસૃષ્ટ મત્યર્થં ભુક્તમન્નમિવૌજસા||24||

સ|| તથા શોકપરાયણા ઇયં સીતા મયા લક્ષિતા પંચાસ્યં પન્નગીં ઇવ યાં ગૃહ્ય નાભિજાનાસિ||અત્યર્થં વિષસંસૃષ્ટં ભુક્તં અન્નં ઇવ ઇયં સાસુરૈઃ અમરૈઃ અપિ ઔજસા જરયિતું ન શક્યા ||

This Sita immersed in sorrow , whom I have seen and you have abducted, is like a five headed serpent . Like the food mixed with venom, which is eaten cannot be absorbed by Devas or Asuras , this one too cannot be.

તપઃ સન્તાપલબ્દસ્તે યોsયં ધર્મપરિગ્રહઃ|
ન સ નાશયિતું ન્યાય આત્મ પ્રાણપરિગ્રહઃ||25||
અવધ્યતાં તપોભિર્યાં ભવાન્ સમનુપશ્યતિ|
આત્મનઃ સાસુરૈર્દેવૈર્હેતુઃ તત્રાપ્યયં મહાન્||26||

સ|| તપઃ સંતાપલબ્ધઃ તે યઃ અયં ધર્મપરિગ્રહઃ આત્મપ્રાણપરિગ્રહઃ સઃ નાશયિતું ન ન્યાય્યઃ||ભવાન્ તપોભિઃ આત્મનઃ સાસુરૈઃ દેવૈઃ યામ્ અવધ્યતાં સમનુપશ્યસિ તત્રાપિ અયં મહાન્ હેતુઃ ||

'It is not proper that the accumulated righteousness by the virtue of austerities by you is lost and at the cost of your life. By virtue of penance you think yourself to be impossible to be killed by Asura and Devas , even there, there is a reason for concern'.

સુગ્રીવો નહિ દેવોઽયં નાસુરો ન ચ રાક્ષસઃ|
ન દાનવો ન ગંધર્વો ન યક્ષો ન ચ પન્નગઃ||27||
તસ્માત્ પ્રાણપરિત્રાણં કથં રાજન્ કરિષ્યસિ|

સ|| સુગ્રીવઃ અયં દેવઃ ન| ન અસુરઃ | ન રાક્ષસઃ | ન દાનવઃ| ન ગંધર્વઃ| ન યક્ષઃ | ન ચ પન્નગઃ|રાજન્ તસ્માત્ પ્રાણ પરિત્રાણં કથં કરિષ્યસિ||

'Sugriva is not a God. Not an Asura. Not a Rakshasa. Not a Danava or Gandharva or Yaksha. Oh King how will you protect your life'.

ન તુ ધર્મોપસંહારં અધર્મફલસંહિતમ્||28||
તદેવ ફલમન્વેતિ ધર્મશ્ચાધર્મનાશનઃ|
પ્રાપ્ત ધર્મફલં તાવત્ ભવતા નાત્ર ન સંશયઃ||29||
ફલમસ્યાપ્યધર્મ્યસ્ય ક્ષિપ્રમેવ પ્રપત્સ્યસે|

સ|| ધર્મોપસંહારં અધર્મફલસંહિતં | ન તુ તત્ ફલમેવ અન્વેતિ ધર્મશ્ચ અધર્મ નાશનઃ||ભવતા ધર્મફલં પ્રાપ્તં તાવત્ અત્ર સંશયઃ ન | અસ્ય અધર્મસ્ય ફલં અપિ ક્ષિપ્રમેવ પ્રપત્સ્યસે||

' Fruits of righteousness are not used in association with unrighteousness. Both yield fruits that are due. But dharma does not annul Adharma. There is no doubt about the righteous fruits you have obtained. This fruits of this unrighteous conduct will quickly be attained'

જનસ્થાનવથં બુદ્ધ્વા બુદ્ધ્વા વાલિવથં પ્રતિ||30||
રામસુગ્રીવ સખ્યં ચ બુદ્ધ્યસ્વ હિત માત્મનઃ|
કામં ખ લ્વહ મપ્યેકઃ સવાજિરથકુજ્ઞરામ્||31||
લંકાં નાશયિતું શક્તસ્તસ્યૈષ તુ ન નિશ્ચયઃ|

સ|| જનસ્થાનવધં બુદ્ધ્વા તથા વાલિવથં બદ્ધ્વા રામસુગ્રીવ સખ્યં ચ આત્મનઃ જિતં બુદ્ધ્યસ્વ||અહં એકઃ અપિ સવાજિરથકુંજરામ્ લંકાં નાશયિતું કામં શક્તાઃ ખલુ | એષઃ તુ નિશ્ચયઃ ન||

'Having known the killings in Janasthana , the killing of Vali ,and the friendship of Rama and Sugriva, know your own benefit too. I alone single-handedly have the capability to destroy the Lanka along will all the horses chariots, and elephants. This is not my resolution'.

રામેણ હિ પ્રતિજ્ઞાતં હર્યૃક્ષગણસન્નિધૌ||32||
ઉત્સાદનમમિત્રાણાં સીતાયૈસ્તુ પ્રધર્ષિતા|
અપકુર્વન્ હિ રામસ્ય સાક્ષાદપિ પુરંદરઃ||33||
ન સુખં પ્રાપ્નુયાદન્યઃ કિં પુનસ્ત્વદ્વિધો જનઃ|

સ|| રામેણ હર્યક્ષુગણ સન્નિધૌ યૈઃ સીતા પ્રધર્ષિતા અમિત્રાણાં ઉત્સાદનં પ્રતિજ્ઞાતં હિ ||રામસ્ય અપકુર્વન્ સાક્ષાત્ પુરંદરઃ અપિ સુખં ન આપ્નુયાત્ | ત્વત્ વિધઃ કિં પુનઃ||

'Rama in the presence of all the Vanara groups took a vow to punish any unfriendly one who troubles Sita. Offending Rama even Purandara himself cannot live in happiness. What to say of you'.

યાં સીતે ત્યભિજાનાસિ યેયં તિષ્ટતિ તે વશે||34||
કાળરાત્રીતિ તાં વિદ્ધિ સર્વલંકાવિનાશિનીં|
તદલં કાલપાશેન સીતાવિગ્રહરૂપિણા||35||
સ્વયં સ્કન્થાવસક્તેન ક્ષમમાત્મનિ ચિન્ત્યતાં|

સ|| યાં સીતા ઇતિ અભિજાનાસિ યા ઇયમ્ તે વશે તિષ્ઠતિ તાં સર્વલંકાવિનાશિનીં કાળરાત્રિ ઇતિ વિદ્ધિ||તત્ સીતાવિગ્રહરૂપિણા સ્વયં સ્કન્ધાવસક્તેન કાલપાશેન અલં | આત્મનિ ક્ષેમમ્ ચિન્ત્યતામ્ ||

' This one whom you know as Sita who is under your control living here, know her as the destroyer of whole of Lanka , the harbinger of dark night. In the form of Sita you are holding the noose of death on your shoulders. Enough. Think of your own wellbeing'.

સીતાયા સ્તેજસા દગ્ધાં રામ કોપપ્રપીડિતામ્||36||
દહ્યમાના મિમાં પશ્ય પુરીં સાટ્ટપ્રતોળિકાં|
સ્વાનિ મિત્ત્રાણિ મન્ત્રીંશ્ચ જ્ઞાતીન્ ભાતૄન્ સુતાન્ હિતાન્||37||
ભોગાન્દારાં શ્ચ લંકાં ચ મા વિનાશમુપાનય|

સ|| તેજસા દગ્ધામ્ રામકોપપ્રપીડિતામ્ દહ્યમાનાં સાટ્ટપ્રતોલિકાં ઇમાં પુરીં પશ્ય ||સ્વાનિ મિત્રાણિ મંત્રીંશ્ચ જ્ઞાતીન્ ભાતૄન્ સુતાન્ હિતાન્ ભોગાન્ દારાંશ્ચ લંકાં ચ વિનાશં મા ઉપાનય||

' See the city of Lanka along with its market places and streets being burned by Rama's wrath and Sita's glowing fire. Do not bring about the destruction of your clan, brothers, friends, ministers, sons, wives and all pleasures'.

સત્યં રાક્ષસ રાજેંદ્ર શૃણુષ્વ વચનં મમ||38||
રામદાસસ્ય દૂતસ્ય વાનરસ્ય ચ વિશેષતઃ|
સર્વાન્ લોકાન્ સુસંહૃત્ય સભૂતાન્ સ ચરાચરાન્||39||
પુનરેવ તથા સ્રષ્ઠું શક્તો રામો મહાયશાઃ|

સ|| રાક્ષસ રાજેંદ્ર મમ દૂતસ્ય વાનરસ્ય વિશેષતઃ રામદાસસ્ય સત્યં વચનં શૃણુસ્વ ||રામઃ મહાયશઃ સર્વાન્ લોકાન્ સભૂતાન્ સ ચરાચરાન્ સુસંહૃત્ય પુનરેવ તથા સ્રષ્ટું શક્તઃ ||

' Oh King of Rakshasas ! Hear the truthful words of this messenger a Vanara , specifically the servant of Rama. Illustrious Rama , after destroying all the worlds along with all beings can again recreate as before'.

દેવાસુર નરેન્દ્રેષુ યક્ષરક્ષોગણેષુ ચ||40||
વિધ્યાધરેષુ સર્વેષુ ગન્ધર્વેષૂરગેષુ ચ|
સિદ્ધેષુ કિન્નરેન્દ્રેષુ પતત્રિષુ ચ સર્વતઃ||41||
સર્વભૂતેષુ સર્વત્ર સર્વકાલેષુ નાસ્તિ સઃ|
યો રામં પ્રતિયુધ્યેત વિષ્ણુતુલ્ય પરાક્રમમ્||42||

સ|| વિષ્ણુતુલ્યપરાક્રમં રામં પ્રતિયુધ્યેત દેવાસુરનરેંદ્રેષુ યક્ષરક્ષોગણેષુ ચ સર્વેષુ વિદ્યાધરેષુ ગન્ધર્વેષુ ઉરગેષુ ચ સિદ્ધેષુ ચ કિન્નરેન્દ્રેષુ સર્વતઃ પતત્રિષુ સર્વભૂતેષુ સર્વત્ર સર્વકાલેષુ નાસ્તિ||

' Equal to Vishnu in valor , there is none who can combat Rama among all the kings of Devas and Asuras, among the Yakshas and Rakshasas, among all Vidhyadharas , Gandharvas, Uragas and Siddhas or Kinnaras. All over the worlds among birds all beings, in all places at all times there is none.

સર્વલોકેશ્વર સ્યૈવં કૃત્વા વિપ્રિય મુત્તમં|
રામસ્ય રાજસિંહસ્ય દુર્લભં તવ જીવિતમ્||43||

સ|| સર્વલોકેશ્વરસ્ય રાજસિંહસ્ય રામસ્ય એવં ઉત્તમમ્ વિપ્રિયં કૃત્વા તવ જીવિતમ્ દુર્લભં ||

Having done this great offence to Rama , the Lord of all worlds, lion among princes , your life is difficult to sustain.

દેવાશ્ચ દૈત્યાશ્ચ નિશાચરેન્દ્ર ગંધર્વવિધ્યાધરનાગયક્ષાઃ|
રામસ્ય લોકત્રયનાયકસ્ય સ્થાતું નશક્તાઃ સમરેષુ સર્વે||44||
બ્રહ્મા સ્વયંભૂશ્ચતુરાનનોવા રુદ્રસ્ત્રિણેત્રઃ ત્રિપુરાન્તકો વા|
ઇન્દ્રો મહેન્દ્રોઃ સુરનાયકો વા ત્રાતુમ્ ન શક્તા યુધિ રામવધ્યં||45||

સ|| નિશાચરેંદ્ર દેવાશ્ચ દૈત્યાશ્ચ ગન્ધર્વવિધ્યાધરનાગયક્ષાઃ સર્વે લોકત્રયનાયકસ્ય રામસ્ય સમરેષુ સ્થાતું ન શક્તાઃ ||યુધિ રામવધ્યં સ્વયમ્ભૂઃ ચતુરાનનઃ બ્રહ્મા વા ત્રિનેત્રઃ ત્રિપુરાંતકઃ રુદ્રો વા ઇંદ્રઃ સુરનાયકઃ મહેણ્દ્રઃ વા ત્રાતું ન શક્તાઃ||

' Oh the king of night beings ! There is none among Devas Daityas, Gandharvas, Vidhyadharas, Nagas, Yakshas who can stand in the battle against Rams the leader of the three worlds. Neither Brahma the Four-Faced, Self-Created, nor Rudra the Triple-eyed who destroyed the three cities, nor Indra the great Lord of the Suras, can save one whom Rama has decided to kill a battle'.

સ સૌષ્ટવો પેત મદીનવાદિનઃ
કપેર્નિશમ્યાપ્રતિમોઽપ્રિયં ચ|
દશાનનઃ કોપવિવૃત્તલોચનઃ
સમાદિશત્ તસ્ય વધં મહાકપેઃ||46||

સ|| અપ્રતિમઃ સઃ દશાનનઃ અદીનવાદિનઃ કપેઃ સૌષ્ટવોપેતં અપ્રિયં વચઃ નિશમ્ય કોપવિવૃતલોચનઃ તસ્ય મહાકપેઃ વધં સમાદિશત્ ||

'The ten headed one who has no equals, hearing the extremely skillful unpleasant words of the Vanara with eyes rolling in anger ordered the killing of the great Vanara'.

ઇત્યાર્ષે શ્રીમદ્રામાયણે આદિકાવ્યે વાલ્મીકીયે
ચતુર્વિંશત્ સહસ્રિકાયાં સંહિતાયામ્
શ્રીમત્સુંદરકાંડે એકપંચાશસ્સર્ગઃ ||

Thus ends the Sarga fifty one of Sundarakanda in Ramayana the first poem composed in Sanskrit by the first poet sage Valmiki.
