Happy GaneshaChaturthi !

Kasarabada.org wishes Happy Ganesha Chaturthi to all of our readers though this issue is coming two days after the Ganesh Chaturthi !!

Ganesh chaturthi immediately reminds one of the "must part" of the day - namely hearing "the story". Every Ganesh Chaturthi we have a running battle at home – with my wife insisting that even if we do the Ganesh Puja we should avoid seeing moon ! , with my children chiming in then “what is the point of doing Ganesh Puja then !! " . In any case the story has an interesting embedded message in the the form of Lord Vishnu's advice to Lord Shiva in the sub-story of "Gajasura Samharam". There is one more message in the sub-story of Ganesha winning over the more agile Kumaraswami !! That is topic of this weeks "one more thing"!!!

The regular items of the week are Ramayan Sundarakanda which moves to the 11th chapter of Sundarakanda . and the Bhagavatam which moves to the 10th chapter of Uddhava Gita .

In Uddhava Gita chapter 10 , Lord Krishna details the eighteen mystic powers one obtains by practicing complicated Yogic processes. But interestingly Krishna adds in the end that "Learned experts in devotional service state that the mystic powers I have mentioned are actually impediments and are a waste of time for one that is practicing the supreme Yoga by which one achieves all perfections in life directly from me. Whatever powers can be achieved by .., austerities and mantras can be achieved by devotional service to me". Which is essentially saying that all the esoteric Yogas are more of diversions attracting one's imagination. But in the end if one is not distracted simple devotional service gives one all the powers !! Bhagavatam page carries additional notes on Yoga.

The fascination for the 'ityeshaa Manishaa mama' - 'this is my firm belief' as stated in Shankara's Manisha Panchakam leads us to continue the topic under "one more thing " . 'One more thing' will come back to this next week with the second Sloka !!. The last week "one more thing" was about the Sloka one of Manisha Panchakam. But the sloka uploaded was sloka two of Manisha panchakam . The same was corrected subsequently. Kasarabada.org regrets the lapse !!

This week's Athato Brahma jignyasa. continues with the elaboration of Purna Pragnya Darsanam of Madhvacharya presented last week.

What is on the kasarabada.org?

For the new visitors we thought of adding a few lines on navigation , so that they may know what is available on Kasarabada.org !

We now have 89 chapters of Dasama Skandha of Bhagavatam. All these chapters (stories on Krishna) are listed by name and are available on a link on the Bhagavatam page.

We have complete bouquet of articles on Ramayana Role models from Ramayana namely Srirama , Sita , Hanuman , Jataayu , Sabari , Bharata , Lakshmana. Apart from these there were some special articles namely The Message of Ramayana , Going to the Forests and about Hanuman in "In the thick of the Battle " . Along the same lines are the earlier articles in praise of Hunuman 1 , Hanuman 2 and Valmiki Sundarakanda . Added to this bouquet is the Sundarakanda as a Telugu poem by Pandit Vijayraghavrao. We have also added some downloads specifically for the Sankshipta Sundarakanda ( with Sanskrit slokas) reproduced in different language scripts namely Sanskrit , Telugu , Kannada and Malayalam . There is also a Telugu Sundarakanda Katha for those interested in reading the same as a prose story !!,.

One more thing is a page where we get articles which could be on anything , informative and educative handled with a light heart and a touch of contemporary realities. The page lists all the earlier stories on its page
