Viveka Chudamani Slokas 194-195
It is without beginning and characterized by ego, Guru asserted teh begining less nature of Jiva. Through previous desires it performs actions good and evil. In the knowledge sheath ( Vignyakosa) has the three states and experiences joy and sorrow. Being close to the Atman residing in the heart, it is also efflugent . The disciple hearing all this wonders of that which has begining may not have an end. That teh Samsara may not end.How is then one to active liberation. With this doubt in mind, the Disciple stops the discourse with a question.
In thefirst Sloka , the discipel preasents his doubt and and the second Sloka he raises his question.
Now the first Sloka :
through delusion or otherwise ;
Self thinks of itself as Jiva
Why does it think so ?
That superimposition of beginingless of the Jiva;
That Jiva is begining less is what we heard in Sloka 188 (’अनादिकालोऽयं अहं स्वभावो’ ) and elaborated in teh sheath of knowledge.
that with out begining is indeed without an end;
Disciple is announcing his doubt. 'The Jiva with begining cannot be supposed to be having an end'.
The doubt is based on the fact that Jiva actis based on prvious (birth) actions. ( Sloka 188-189). It may be permanent cycle.
Now the second Sloka ( 195).
In the Sloka saying ’मे श्रीगुरो वद’, meaning 'Oh reverand Sir, please tell me', the diciple raises his question.
Thus Jivahood of the Soul ( Atma);
नित्योभवति - becomes eternal ( without an end);
Transmigration cycle( Samsara) continues for ever;
Then how can one get liberation?
Oh Master please tell me ?
Summary .
Therefore, disciple says, 'Jivahood also becomes eternal or without end and its transmigration ( samsara ) continues. How then can teher be liberation for the soul? Kindly enlighten me O revered teacher'. -
Now then the master gives his answer in the next few Slokas.
