Viveka Chudamani Slokas  296-298 :

Sloka  296:

विकारिणां सर्व विकार वेत्ता
नित्यो अविकारो भवितुं समर्हति।
मनोरथ स्वप्न सुषुप्तिषु स्फुटम्
पुनः पुनः दृष्टं असत्त्वमेतयोः॥296॥

1 विकारिणां सर्व विकार वेत्ता
  that which is the knower of all changes of all things which are liable to change;

2 नित्यो अविकारो भवितुं समर्हति-
  ( is) eternal, and changeless, and is worthy of being called that;

   That Self which is the knower of all changes of all things which are liable to change is eternal, and changeless, and is worthy of being called that;

3 मनोरथ स्वप्न सुषुप्तिषु स्फुटम् -
   in the waking state , dream state  and deep sleep state, seen clearly;
 
The presence of Self is seen in all the three states 
 
4 पुनः पुनः द्रष्टं असत्त्वं  एतयोः-
  एतयोः असत्त्वं  पुनः पुनः द्रष्टं-
  the unreality of those is seen again and again ;

The unreality of those gross and subtle bodies  has been seen again and again clearly.

While stating, the unreality of those, Guru is referring to the unreality of the gross and subtle bodies , which has been asserted again and again. In the dream and deep sleep , the gross body is not seen. In the deep sleep the subtle is also not seen. Thus the unreality of these two is seen.


Summary of Sloka 296 :

"That Self which is the knower of all changes of all things which are liable to change is eternal, and changeless, and is worthy of being called that;  The unreality of those namely the gross body and subtle body is clearly seen again and again in the waking state, dream state  and deep sleep state".


Sloka 297

अतोभिमानं त्यज मांसपिण्डे
पिण्डाभिमानिन्यपि बुद्धि कल्पिते।
कालत्रयाबाध्यं अखण्डबोधम्
ज्ञात्वा स्व आत्मानं उपैहि शान्तिम्॥ 297॥


1 अतोभिमानं त्यज मांसपिण्डे -
  therefore reject your attachment to the lump of flesh ;

2 पिण्डाभिमानिन्यपि बुद्धि कल्पिते।
  also reject attachment to the mass of ego creation of the intellect;

3 कालत्रयाबाध्यं अखण्डबोधम्
  that which is witness of all three time, that alone is the Absolute knowledge

4 ज्ञात्वा स्व आत्मानं
  realizing that as your own Self;

  उपैहि शान्तिम् -
  attain that state of peace;


Summary of Sloka 297 :

"There fore reject your attachment to the lump of flesh, also reject attachment to the mass of ego creation of the intellect; that which is witness of all three time, that alone is the Absolute knowledge, realizing that as your own Self, attain that state of supreme peace".


Sloka 298:

त्यजाभिमानं कुलगोत्रनाम
रूपाश्रमेषु  आर्द्रशवाश्रितेषु।
लिंगस्य धर्मानपि कर्तृतादीं
त्यक्त्वा भव अखण्ड सुखस्वरूपः॥298॥

1 त्यजाभिमानं कुल गोत्र नाम रूप आश्रमेषु -
  reject your identification with family, lineage and name;

2 रूप आश्रमेषु आर्द्रशवाश्रितेषु -
  your form and station in life associated your  body ( which is nothing   but a wet corpse)

The point is about rejecting association with gross body in various forms. The association has also rejected with the subtle body, that point is made next.
  
3 लिंगस्य धर्मानपि कर्तृतादीं त्यक्त्वा
  reject even the attachment to subtle body through doer ship;

What is the result of rejecting both gross and subtle?

4 भव अखण्ड सुखस्वरूपः -
  become the very essence of absolute unbroken bliss.
 

By rejecting the attachment to both gross and subtle body, what you get is absolute peace

Summary fo Sloka 298 :

"Reject your identification with family, lineage , name, form and station in life associated your gross body which is nothing but a wet corpse. Reject even the attachment to subtle body through doer ship, and become the very essence of absolute unbroken bliss".
