Slokas 318-320 with meanings in English
Sloka 318
क्रिया नाशेत् भवेत् चिन्ता
नाशो अस्मात् वासना क्षयः।
वासना प्रक्षयो मोक्षः
स जीवन्मुक्तिः इष्यते॥
क्रिया नाशेत् भवेत् चिन्ता नाशः-
when actions destroyed so does longing ;
There is no action without longing. So when the actions of ends so does the longing. The destruction of cause is to be inferred when the effect is destroyed. So in fact the destruction of action is to be continued till 'no action' arises - and there is no action to be destroyed.
अस्मात् वासना क्षयः -
then follows the destruction of Vasanas;
Destruction of Vasanas is liberation
वासना प्रक्षयो मोक्षः -
destruction of Vasanas is liberation;
स जीवन्मुक्तिः इष्यते -
that is called Jivanmukti.
Destruction of Vasanas is liberation, and it is knowns as Jivan mukti ;
Sloka Summary 318 :
When the action is destroyed, longing ceases. Then the destruction of Vasana follows. The destruction of Vasanas is called Liberation. That liberation is called Jivanmukti.
Sloka 319:
सद्वासना स्फूर्ति विझृंबणे सति
ह्यसौ विलीनापि अहमादिवासना।
अति प्रकृष्टापि अरुण प्रभायां
विलीयते साधु यथा तमिस्रौ॥
सद्वासना स्फूर्ति विझृंबणे सति -
with the manifestation of good Vasanas;
असौ विलीन अहमादिवासना अपि।
the Vasanas of ego etc will also disppear;
The manifestation of good Vasanas implies the manifestation of thoughts of Brahman; the thoughts of Brahman and realization of Brahman drives away the Vasanas of ego.
यथा अरुण प्रभायां साधु -
just as the morning twilight ;
अति प्रकृष्टापि यथा तमिस्रौ विलीयते -
destroys the very intense darkness
Sloka Summary 319 :
Just as the morning twilight drives away the most intense darkness, the manifestation of thinking of Brahman drives away the Vasanas of Ahankara etc.
Sloka 320
तमस्तमः कार्यमनर्थजालं
न दृश्यते सत् उदिते दिनेसे।
तथा अद्वयानन्द रसानु भूतौ
नैवास्ति बन्धो न च दुःख गन्धः॥
1 तमस्तमः कार्यमनर्थजालं-
तमः तमः कार्यं अनर्ध जालं-
the darkness and its baneful consequences ;
the consequencs of darkness are fear of thieves, etc
2 न दृश्यते सत् उदिते दिनेशे-
दिनेशे उदिते सत् न दृश्यते -
are not seen as king of daylight rises;
As soon as Sun rises the fear of darkness and it baneful consequences disappear.
तथा - similarly
अद्वयानन्दरस अनुभूतौ-
when the nectar of non dual bliss is experienced
नैवास्ति बन्धो न च दुःख गन्ध -
there is no bondage or traces of sorrow
When one experiences Self of Brahman, there is more bondages or sorrow.
Sloka Summary 320 :
Just as when Sun rises the fear of darkness and it baneful consequences disappear, similarly when one experiences Self of Brahman, there is no more bondage or sorrow.
