Visakhapatnam ,23rd sept : Former Vice-Chancellor of Nagarjuna University Bhavaraju Sarveswara Rao, 95, died at his residence here following a brief illness on Thursday. He is survived by five sons and two daughters.


Prof. Rao was associated with Andhra University for about four decades as a teacher and later as Head of the Department of Economics and principal of the University College of Arts, Commerce and Law. After retirement in 1975, he worked as Emeritus Professor during 1975-86.


He was founder-director of the Institute of Development and Planning Studies (IDPS) in Visakhapatnam and founder chairman of the Indian Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM). He received several awards and was associated with a number of non-governmental organizationslike the Gandhi Peace Center Bhagavatula Charitable Trust and Visakha Consumers Council.


Prof. Rao was founder of the Gayatri Vidya Parishad group of educational institutions that include degree and engineering colleges, Indo German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT) and MLBT school.
