Sundarakanda

It is a timeless story read a million times in a million houses and will continue to be read by millions as indeed we ourselves do !!

Sundarakanda is a story of single minded pursuit !

It is a story which converts a mood of despondency to a mood of optimism and hope. The mood at the end of Kishkindha kanda in Ramayana was of despondency of Vanaras as well as Rama too. By the end of Sundarakanda there is hope ! It is a story with many highs and lows in the moods of the chief protagonist Hanuman. But he , the Hanuman, never wavers from his objective ! That is probably the most important lesson for all !

It is a story that can convert a non believer into a believer !

Long ago we started on a 68 week celebration of one chapter of Sundarakanda every week, way back in in July 2012 on Guru purnima day ! This attempt was more like a Sundarakanda Yagnyam - सुंदरकांड यज्ञ / సుందరకాండ యజ్ఞం / - or put in another way a celebration of Sundarakanda ! The 68 Chapters have now been completed with the October 18th 2013 Issue of kasarabada.org ! With that our Sundarakanda Yagnyam of that time too is completed. We also had the traditional Ramapattabhisheka too in Telugu and Kannada for the pleasure of our readers !

Subsequently we undertook uploading all the 68 Sargas with all the slokas. That too was concluded in a sixty eight day spurt. The next step of translations followed. First into English and then into Telugu. Both of which were completed.

With the support of Technology we had all slokas in Devanagari, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati.

Now we have the English translation with sloka text in Devanagari and Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati. This also meant we have the story in English too. We also have the Telugu Translation with all slokas in Telugu. It also meant that we have the story of Sundarakanda in Telugu prose. With that we have Sundarakanda fully in Telugu too.

All of these have been consolidated on this page.

For each Sarga we have (i) English Translation with sloka text in Devanagari, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati. (ii) We also have the Sarga summary which covers all slokas of the Sarga. This Summary is in English , Sanskrit and Telugu.

This is probably the most exhaustive rendering of Sundarakanda on the web.

To complete Sundarakanda we are now adding Tattva Dipika, the subtle meanings or messages in Sundarakanda conveyed by the Adi Kavi Valmiki in this time less epic. The Tattva Dipika follows the commentary of Shri Bhashyam Appalaacharyulu garu of Visakhapatnam as well as "Tika Traya" a well known Sanskrit rendering of Sundarakanda.

For the convenience of the readers we are also adding the links to all other Sundarakanda related stories on kasarabada.org in teh following

This is probably the most exhaustive rendering of Sundarakanda on the web.

All of this is for your reading pleasure
