Hanuman goes around Lanka

... But cannot find Sita!

Chapter 6 Summary : Though disappointed by not finding Sita, Hanuman renews the search. Again this time he goes through the palaces of Kumbhakarna, Vibhishana and all other leaders of the Rakshasas. Hanuman roams around Ravana's palaces in search of Sita. But he does not find Sita, the consort of Sri Rama.

 

"Not finding Sita Hanuman became very sorrowful. Then collecting himself Hanuman again started searching for Sita with even more determination !!"

Not finding Sita Hanuman became very sorrowful. Then collecting himself Hanuman again started searching for Sita with even more determination

Then Hanuman who is able to assume any form reached the palace of the leader of the Rakshasas which was enclosed by a dazzling wall and guarded by mighty Rakshasas. The main archways of the palace are made of gold and silver. There are many palaces within the main palace. There were tireless warriors who were riding the elephants. There were undefeated warriors who were riding Horses and chariots too. The chariots were carrying varieties of armor covered with the skin of tiger and lion. The palaces were full of many birds and animals of all types.

The palaces were full of joyous women. The tinkling sound of ornaments worn by them resembled the roar of a sea. The palaces were equipped with Royal symbols and were rendered fragrant with smells of Sandalwood. The palaces guarded by powerful Rakshasa looked like a forest infested with lions. The palaces were resounding with sounds of drums and conches being blown. The prayers were offered on daily basis and sacrificial fires were offered on special days by the Rakshasas. The Royal palace was inscrutable and silent like an ocean with the presence of the mighty Rakshasa King Ravana.

There Hanuman started moving fearlessly from building to building, covering the gardens and palaces too in search of Sita.

Hanuman, the fearless Vanara, speedily jumped on to the palace of Prahasta. Then he jumped on to the house of Mahaparsva. Then he got on to the palace of Kumbhakarna who resembles dark clouds. After that he moved on to Vibhishana's palace. Then he searched the palaces of Mahodara, Virupaksha, Vidyudjjihva, Vidyunmala, Sukanaasa, Vakra, Satha, Vikata, Hrasvakarna, Damshtra, Romasa and other Rakshasaas

He saw houses with variety of chariots, houses with creepers, houses with paintings among the palaces of the King of Rakshasas. As he wandered about he saw the interiors of the palace guarded by women with hideous looks. There were many powerful Rakshasas carrying arms guarding the palaces. Hanuman also saw horses of different colors which travel very fast. He saw elephants of highest breed, Elephants capable of troubling the elephants in a war, Elephants trained to defeat the opposing armies, Elephants making fierce noises. He also saw thousands of soldiers.

He saw a palace full of palanquins of various shapes and sizes, a palace with vineyards, a palace with variety of paintings, a palace with play grounds and gardens. He saw a palace with many couches and seats, a palace glittering with many vessels, a place looking like the palace of Kubera himself, a palace resounding with sounds of musical instruments.

Then Hanuman entered the biggest palace which encompassed a number of other palaces, and is filled with hundreds of best of women.
