This week the Bhagavatam story continues with the Chapter 29.

Chapter 29 is about Krishna's Raslila .

At the poetic level Chapter 29 is one of the most lyrical chapters of Bhagavatam . The most lyrical of all peices is "The Song of Gopis" in chapter 31 which will appear in a couple of weeks . Apart from the beautiful poetry , there is another aspect namely the relationship of Lord Krishna with Gopis who are described as housewives mothers etc. The Srimad Bhagavatam by Swami Tapasyananda brought out by Ramakrishna Math has a detailed discussion about this relationship of Krishna with Gopis in its prologue ( Volume 3 , Prologue pp 11-14 , Dasamskandha). That even the poet Vyasa wanted to clear this aspect comes out in the form of questions from Raja Parikshit . Raja Parikshit questions the propriety of Lord having a realtionship with so many Gopis. This dialog is part of the text that will appear.

In general the attempt has been to string together the transalation of all slokas in all chapters. This chapter being a little more lyrical, it makes for a bit of heavy reading !
