Padmashri Elchuri Vijayrghavrao
Samkshipta Valmiki Sundarakanda
Free Verse in Telugu !!
The first issue of kasarabada.org came out on July10 2010. Though it started off with English renderings on Ramayana, SrimadBhagavatam , the thought of bringing out pages in Telugu was there from the inception. So shortly there after on August 14,2010 we brought out Sanskshipta Sundarakanda in Telugu Verse form.
Titled as ," "శ్రీమద్ వాల్మీకి రామాయాణాంతర్గత సుందరకాండ - సంక్షిప్త సంస్తుతి" - " Srimad Valmiki Ramayana - antargata Sundarakanda- Samkshipta Samstuti' , it was written by Pandit Elchuri Vijayraghavrao in Telugu free verse; Sundarakanda is a long poem, the contents of which are well known. For the purposes of presentation in these pages it was divided into nine parts starting from Hanuman's leap across the ocean and ending with his return to brief Rama. The titles of the nine parts and the division into nine parts, are not part of the original rendering of Pandit Vijayraghavrao's poem. The pages are rendered in Telugu. We also added transliterated Devanagari and English versions of the original Telugu poem for those not familiar with Telugu script.
Though Padmashri Pandit Vijayraghavrao is well known to all music lovers and needs no introduction, we added a page of introduction in Telugu.
Padmashri Elchuri Vijayraghavrao garu was honored by Andhra University and awarded doctorate for his writings in Telugu
We have been permitted by Elchuri family to present his poem in these pages and copyright for the poem rests with the Elchuri family.
