Kasarabada.org welcomes all !

This week Sundarakanda moves to Chapter 57 .

The last sloka of Chapter 56 says Hanuman flew into the sky. Thus the Chapter 57 is about Hanuman descending on the Mahendra mountain from which he leaped into the sky in the first place in search of Sita (Chapter 1 ). Hanuman descends on the Mahendra mountain to the delight of everybody ! They all want to hear the full story and that comes in the long Chapter 58 !!!

Incidentally , there are some tid bits (covered under 'Ramayanam lO Pidakala Veta'). While Hanuman was giving his advice ( Chapter 51) , he refers to the Ravan's epic efforts in penance acknowledging that he is a bhakta in his own way . And looking at Hanuman, Ravana too has his bout of doubts . He says to himself .' is he that Nandi himself' ? Thus reminding himself about that Nandi who cursed him ! He even reminds himself that all that happened when he tried to move the mount kailash . These are small tidbits in an epic. Nevertheless they reinforce the Puranic stories. The main story of Ravana and his penance to please Lord Siva is probably part of Siva Purana . Adi kavi Valmiki while referring to these tid bits in Ramayana gives confirmation of the these other legends.

We can see that through out Sundarakanda Valmiki gives expressions to his views on a number of aspects of life ( like the thoughts about the angry man ! in chapter 56 ). While these thoughts are to be seen referring that time and that place , they are also universal truths. That is the greatness of the Adikavi Valmiki !!

The regular features as usual continue !!

The Telugu home Page is updated . We found work arounds for the technology issues . Hope to continue this page on a monthly basis !! keep looking !!!

The Kathopanishad in Simple words continues with Part3, as continuation of earlier Part 1 and Part 2 - this goes as part of our Athato Brahma Jignyasa. This week Part 3 completes the Kathopanishad Second Adhyaya with Valli4. The Valli 1 and 2 were part of Part 1 . Part 2 covers the Valli 3 which threads through a few concepts of duality Jivaatma and Paramatma, Brahman the Un-manifested and the manifested , and the two goals namely one of reaching heaven and the other attaining Moksha. . The Athato page also carries links to interesting notes on Kathopanishad !! . Now we have quite a bit of material on Kathopanishad; and it is not completed yet !!

With this Ugadi we started a page in Telugu titled - "Subbalakshmigari Kalam loninchi" . There is also a technology change. We are adding language support so that Indian language text van easily be accepted . Readers may see a bit of not so well formatted texts on the Telugu pages. Hopefully this will be resolved.

The extracts of an old book( 1899) by an Oxford Scholar on the History of Sanskrit Literature , appeared earlier under "one more thing" !!
