Destruction of Salva.

As the fierce battle continued in Dwaraka, Krishna who went to Indraprastha at the invitation of Yudhistira for facilitating the Rajasuya began to see inauspicious omens. He quickly took leave of Pandus and started back. As he reached Dwaraka, he saw the havoc being caused and the battle going on with Salva. Then he arranged for the protection of the city by Balaram and addressed Daruka. “O charioteer, please take my chariot near to where Salva is. This Lord of Saubha is an experienced magician but there is no need to fear him “.

As instructed Daruka drove Krishna into the battle field. As soon as Krishna's flag with flying Garuda was seen, the Yadus got fully rejuvenated. But Salva too roaring threw a spear at Daruka. Krishna broke the spear into pieces with his arrows. Then Salva managed to hit the left arm of the Lord and astonishingly, the bow Saranga fell from Krishna‘s hands. As all those seeing were bewildered, Salva roared saying, “O fool, in our presence you kidnapped the wife of Sisupala. You killed him in the assembly hall when he is inattentive. Today I will send you to the place of no return. “

Krishna returned his taunts

“O Salva! You are speaking needlessly .You do not see the death near you. Valiant ones show their prowess without speaking “.

There upon Krishna struck him with his mace. As soon as he got back his club Salva disappeared and a man appeared in front of Krishna. The man announced himself as being sent by Devaki to deliver her message. He bowed and delivered the message from Devaki. The message was “Krishna, Krishna, Your father has been captured by Salva and taken away like a butcher taking away a domestic animal.”

Krishna too taken aback wondered aloud, “How can Balaram who is never perturbed, who cannot be defeated by Devas or demons be defeated by Salva? Fate indeed is powerful “. As he was saying these words Salva appeared again with Vasudeva and said, “Krishna! This is the father who brought you into this world. I shall now kill him .Protect him if you can! “. So saying he cut off Vasudeva's head and entered his magical vehicle Saubha.

Then for a moment being absorbed in his human role, Krishna being affectionate to his near ones was taken in by the Maya. However he, who is aware of everything, soon shook off the Maya realizing the tricks being played by Salva prepared him to kill Salva.

As Salva poured a torrent of weapons at Krishna, Krishna broke Salva's armor and his bow. Then with his mace he smashed the vehicle Saubha. Salva now took up his club and rushed at Krishna. Krishna cut off his arm holding the Mace. Then he lifted his Sudarshan disc and hurled the same to separate Salva's head
